Assembling the Pieces

With the new pieces cut, Ian and I were excited to finally attach all pieces to the base-plate. We began by lining everything up again. This time around, the rail fit nicely on the base-plate. Next, the back wall was taken and nailed to the base-plate. Because the nails were longer than the wood, it had to be clipped afterwards. Next, the L-brackets for the rail system were lined up and the stationary wall base was overlapped on top of the bracket. Hot glue and superglue was used to hold the bracket and base. Finally, screws were put through the rail system and L-bracket to hold itself in place. Because there were a limited amount of screws, the system is currently unstable. The magnets were finally attached to the top of the rail system, and after 20 minutes of drying, we found out that they held the rail! Not much else could be done, but we did take some plarn and make sure that the holes line up. In doing so, we found that the length of the string varies by more than the height of the front wall. This could be a problem in the future, but we won't find out until the loom can be used.
